Grapevine Parade of Lights

The City of Grapevine has a fun night time Christmas Parade. We bundled everybody up and met Amanda and Travis and their kids.

The kids had a great time at the parade and their favorite parts were the marching bands and the lighted floats.

Cutrell Family Christmas 2013

The morning after Christa's wedding we all got together again for our annual Cutrell Family Christmas.  This year we decided to meet at a restaurant in Grapevine to make it easy for everyone to come after the wedding. We enjoyed time visiting with our extended family, a yummy meal and of course our annual Nativity play.

My cousin Diana and her daughter, Allee.

Aunt Beka and Walker

Every year for as long as I can remember we have dressed up in costume and acted out the Nativity story. My cousins and I grew up doing this and now it's our children in the same costumes as we used to wear.
My Uncle Curt served as the Narrator this year and read from the Bible app on my iphone.

Harper was Mary

Isaiah the cutest little Shepherd

Our cast, Levi (Wise Man), Harper (Mary), Reid (Joseph), Delia (Angel), Isaiah (Shepherd), and my Dad the Wise Man.

Brody refused to wear a costume so he sat and watched the show.

After our performance we all did a white elephant gift exchange that included lots of little ones helping picking out peoples gifts.

Christa Gets Married

My cousin Christa got married in Grapevine a few weeks ago.  The wedding and reception were in downtown Grapevine which was all decorated for Christmas. We left the two big kids at home with Grandad Sherman and little man came with us.

We sat on the back row of the church in case we had to make a quick exit.

Santa and other Christmas Activities

Last week we headed down to Grapevine Mills Mall to pay a little visit to Santa.  There might have been some bribing involved with getting everyone to look at the camera.

We promised a train ride after they visited with Santa.  We met Corine & Keller there so we all enjoyed riding in the little train that goes through the middle of the mall.

Brody LOVES trains! He was so excited during the whole ride and didn't want to get off.
During December we have enjoyed a few other fun Christmas activities that include Gingerbread house decorating, looking at Christmas lights in our pajamas, and attending fun parties at school.

Iced In

In Texas the saying goes - "If you don't like the weather - wait a few minutes and it will change."  That is usually the case but last week the temp got below freezing and then stayed below freezing for 4 days.  This normally wouldn't be a problem except for the freezing rain/ sleet that we had all night. We woke up on Friday morning to find a thick sheet of ice covering everything.  School was cancelled for Friday and Monday and we were iced in for 4 days!  At first the kids were excited to see the ice but what they didn't realize was that it's not like snow and you can't really play in it.  When you try to play you typically just fall down.
We did manage to go outside a few times to play.

Our poor rose bushes

After Brody fell down the first time, he went in and got his bicycle helmet and insisted on wearing it for the rest of our outside play time... which didn't last that long.

By day 3 inside we were going a little stir crazy. Jeff wanted pizza so called Pizza Hut and they said they were only open for carry out. No delivery because roads were still too bad.  I guess he really wanted pizza because he walked / slid to get it!

I managed to slid across the field to get to the gym for a run.  I signed up to run the Rock N Roll Dallas Half Marathon in March.

Harper enjoyed her red neck sledding in a laundry basket.

We were thankful when everything started to melt and get back to normal.
