We LOVE Triathlons!

So Jeff and I are a little addicted to the sport of triathlon. Don't worry - it's a healthy addiction. We both did our first sprint triathlon in August of 2004. Since then we have done a combination of 40 triathlons!! My job with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training program introduced us to the sport in 2004 and we have never stopped to look back. Here's a few of the highlights...

In 2005 and 2006 we got to travel to Kona, Hawaii for the Lavaman Olympic Distance Triathlon. I took one of my Triathlon teams to Kona for the event and Jeff got to come along and do the race also!

One of Jeff's favorite triathlons in Texas is the Capital of Texas Triathlon in Austin every May. I have taken our Team In Training team down to Austin the past 4 years so Jeff gets to go along and race! In 2006 he had a PR at this race - 2:32:22.

We not only love doing triathlons, but we love sharing our sport with others! I recruited three of my Baylor friends to do their first triathlon at the Tri America Triathlon in Irving, TX in 2005. It was so fun being out on the course with my best friends doing the thing that I love the most! I was so proud of them because the each won an award and it was their FIRST triathlon!

In September 2005, Jeff and I decided to take on the challenge of a Half Ironman distance triathlon. We signed up with Team In Training for the
Big Kahuna Half Ironman in Santa Cruz, CA. The Half Ironman is a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, then a 13.1 mile run. We had a blast racing and we raised over $5,000 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society!

Overlooking Pacific Ocean on Highway 1. We took this pic when we were driving the bike course the day before the race. This was the scenery that we had for the entire 56 mile bike!

Here's Jeff and I and our good friend Heather during our practice swim in the COLD Pacific Ocean!

Here's Jeff heading out on to the bike course! Sarah finishing the race in the sand!
We did it!!!!

Stay tuned for more!

Our 2007 in review

Where do we begin... I guess we have finally given in to share our lives with blog world. Jeff and I just celebrated 4 years of marriage this week! Time sure does fly when you are having fun. 2007 was a fun filled year for Jeff and I filled with travel, triathlons, and fun times with friends and family.

Jeff’s career has taken him back to his LOVE for coaching. Almost every day since August, you can find Jeff on the football field coaching the Centennial Titans. He can’t wait to start coaching the Freshman baseball team in a few weeks. This season Sarah has even learned a few things about football by sitting with the other coaches wives in the stands. She has made a good start at becoming a sports enthusiast!

Sarah is approaching 5 years with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training Program. Her job has once again taken her to several beautiful destinations like Monterey, Lake Tahoe, and Maui. She still loves cheering people on to their fundraising and training goals in the endurance sports world.

This year we have been so blessed to be able to spend time with our family and friends. In August, Sarah was able to travel with her family to Europe for 2 weeks to explore Germany, Austria, and France! Unfortunately, Jeff was unable to go at the last minute due to his new coaching position.
Our hobby is still training for triathlons together and our free time is spent on the trails running and biking or in the pool swimming.
