Pregnant and 105 degrees - WHEW!

Sorry that I haven't posted in a while. We have been busy preparing for the arrival of Baby Sherman. Over the past few weeks we have taken several classes that our hospital offers to help prepare for the baby. The "Preparation for Childbirth" class is a three part class that totals 12 hours! Whew - it's a lot of info but good. We took "Infant CPR and Baby Care" last week also. It is a good feeling knowing how to do CPR just in case. Jeff's favorite class so far has been Breastfeeding 101. Ha - just kidding. He was not to thrilled that I dragged him along to this one. We still have a Car Seat Installation class and Jeff has a Daddy Boot Camp class left to take.

I'm now going to the Doctor once a week. The appointments are going well and things are progressing along just fine. I'm 35 and a half weeks along right now. It's crazy how fast my pregnancy has flown by. Baby Sherman will be here before we know it.

This past weekend I had another baby shower that was hosted by my sweet friends from Prestonwood - Amy, Kelley, and Lindsay. We had a great time of food, fun and fellowship.

Here's the latest "belly pic" of me at 35 weeks. Not sure how much more my stomach can expand. I'm getting pretty miserable with these 100 plus degree days that we have been having. The weather man brings nothing but bad news these days. This morning the 7 day forecast had high temps ABOVE 100 degrees. Whew! I already have a little oven on me so the heat is not fun. Luckily I have a job that keeps me inside in the air conditioner. I think that I'm freezing out some of my coworkers.

Work in Progress

This past weekend Jeff was out of town for a little guy trip to St. Louis. While he was gone visiting all of his college baseball friends, my mom came over to Wylie and helped me start the nursery. As I mentioned in a previous post, we had to combine our guest bedroom and office to allow space for the nursery. The first challenge was combining the two closets. Here's what it looked like when we pulled everything out of the office closet and moved it into the guest bedroom.

The room that we are using for the nursery was a dark shade of blue to begin with. It took a great primer and a couple of coats of paint to cover the blue. Picking out paint is one of the most overwhelming experiences to me. There are way too many colors to choose from. Thankfully, Home Depot has this cool machine that you can hold a fabric swatch up to and it will match the perfect paint color to it. I let the machine do it's magic and then tweaked shade a bit. One can of primer and one can of paint later we had a cute pink room for Baby Sherman.

My mom and I finished painting the room last weekend and then this weekend the task was to assemble the crib and dresser that we bought. We ordered our furniture from JCPenney and it only took about 5 days for it to arrive. When we went to pick it up it was packed in two HUGE flat boxes. We loaded them up at the store in Frisco then headed home to start assembling. I knew that "some assembly" would be required but I didn't realize that we would be building from the ground up. Here's what the dresser looked like when we pulled it out of the box...about 30 different wood pieces.

The hardest part to the dresser was the wide assortment of screws, bolts, hinges, and nails that they included. We started by separating each unique piece of hardware into a pile and naming it.

After Jeff and I worked on the dresser for about 2 hours on Friday night we gave up and headed to bed. Saturday afternoon my parents came by and Jeff and my Dad finished the dresser while my mom, sister and I assembled the crib. Here's the finished dresser.

The crib was easier to put together because we didn't have so many pieces to work with. Here's my dad with the finished product.


Today Jeff and I headed to Babies R'Us this afternoon to pick up a crib matress, changing pad and cover. Now all we need is decorations on the wall and Baby Sherman will have a completed room.

Baby Showers and special friends

This past weekend my sweet college friends, Natalie, Sarah, and Michelle, hosted a wonderful baby shower for me. It was such a special time to celebrate this new and exciting time in our life. Here's a few pics from the shower:

My sweet friends from growing up - Amanda and Jessica. We were each born exactly one week apart. I was April 30th, then Jessica was May 7th, and Amanda was May 14th. We have been friends our ENTIRE life!!!

Baby Sherman received so many fun gifts at the shower. We received her car seat, stroller, high chair, and many other fun items. Seeing all of those presents in our house made it even more "real". She will be here before we know it. My mom is coming over this weekend to help paint and decorate the nursery.

Jeff has really been great at helping me around the house during my pregnancy. I told him last week that the chemicals that I use to clean the bathroom really bother me. So - I recently came home to this scene....

It was so funny to see him wearing those bright yellow gloves!

He has always said - you take care of the inside of house and I'll take care of the outside. Well - I think that he just proved he knows a thing or two about inside housework also.

30 Weeks and counting

Well, I'm now officially in my third trimester. I'm now 30 weeks prego. Whew!!! It's flying by so fast. I can't believe that I have only about 2 more months before I'm a mom! Jeff and I have been dragging our feet a little on the important things like picking a name, decorating the nursery, and registering. We realized that it's now time to get serious and start some of these daunting tasks. We went to Babies R Us last week to start the registering process and it was pretty overwhelming! There are so many things that you feel like you need. It's hard registering because there are so many options - like the "wall of bottles" and the "pacifier wall". Good thing we have the Internet these days because I spent a lot of time researching the different products and choices.

In regards to the baby room, we live in a three bedroom house so we are having to combine the current office and guest room to make space for Baby Sherman. This weekend we started to consolidate the office and guest room and we were amazed at how much stuff we have collected in the past few years. Stay tuned for pictures of the nursery progress.

Michelle's Wedding Weekend

This past weekend, my sweet friend Michelle Nix got married. Michelle lived on my hall freshman year at Baylor and then we lived together in an apartment for the rest of our college years. After moving to Dallas for Physical Therapy School, she started attending Northwest Bible Church. Michelle volunteered to work with the youth group and while working with the youth group she met Charlie. He was in the praise band. They hit it off - and a short time later - they were planning a wedding.

The wedding weekend was so fun because it got all of our college friend together again. We began on Thursday night with a yummy dinner at Chuy's and then dessert at Pokey O's. If you live in Dallas, and haven't discovered Pokey O's yet - you are really missing out!!

After dinner on Thursday night, we all went back to Sarah's house and attempted to make Michelle's bouquet for the rehearsal. She had saved all of the bows from gifts from all of her showers. This was the BEFORE.

This was the AFTER! We definitely didn't need all of the bows for the bouquet.
On Friday morning, we had a luncheon for Michelle at Breadwinners. After the luncheon, I headed to Paris for my sisters high school graduation (previous post). The graduation was at 8pm on Friday. Jeff and I then left bright and early on Saturday morning to drive back to Dallas for the wedding. Here's a few pics from the wedding!
