The Week Before School

The week before school started was a busy one.  Harper was so excited to be starting Kindergarten.  We had meet the teacher at her new school.  She knows 2 girls from her preschool who attend McAuliffe. They aren't in the same class this year but next door to each other.  We chose to transfer Harper into this elementary school because it's a Marcus HS feeder school so IF we are still here in 8 years then she could go to Marcus with Jeff. We LOVE the principal.  Mrs. Mattingly attends our church, won principal of the year for the whole state of Texas a few years ago, and ADORES kids.  Jeff knew the Mattinglys from growing up here. We know that Harper is in good hands.

Harper's BFF Emerson

Can you tell that she is just a little excited?

Back to school hair cuts

We had a fun dinner party with 5 families who all have incoming kindergartners at McAuliffe. The dads all grew up together in Flower Mound. Small world!

Corrine stole Harper away for a birthday lunch because she couldn't attend her party on the weekend.

Harper's Triathlon Training

I signed up Harper for first Triathlon.  She really got the hang of swimming this summer and she loves riding her bike.  We spent some time "training" in Paris.  Brody had to help and he was the flag boy!

A little help from daddy in transition.

Lookin good on the run!

She will rock her race!

Weekend Trip to Paris

The weekend before school started we headed up to Paris.  We had not been since Easter and the kids couldn't wait to get into Papa and Mimi's pool.

"Fishing"

This is the life

Papa enjoyed fishing with the kids.

Just a little batting practice

We celebrated Mama Cutrell's birthday while we were there.

Mama and Grandma Jane are both in the same retirement home so it makes it easy to visit them both when we go.  This is the last picture that I have of Grandma Jane before she passed away.  100 years separates these two.

August Random Fun

Jeff's sister, Rhonda, and her husband Bill and little Rylee all moved from Lubbock to Fort Worth a few weeks ago.  We are so excited to have them back in the metroplex. Harper and I went over one morning to help them unpack a little.  Harper babysat Rylee while I set up her room.

One night we all went over there for dinner so Jeff could see the house. The kids enjoyed feeding the ducks in their neighborhood pond.

This summer we have enjoyed having a little more of a social life than in the Spring when it's so crazy with baseball season.  The Millers came over for dinner one night before school started.  Our kids are pretty much all the same age and both dads are High School coaches so we have a lot in common.
Walker and Boston

Owen, Brody, Sloane, Harper

My cousin, Devon, from New York came to visit.  She was on a 3 week road trip and made an extended stay in Dallas to visit family.  I had to introduce her to Braum's which she doesn't have in NY.

I dusted off my triathlon bike and started riding again. I haven't been on it since before I was pregnant with Walker. I'm loving any few minutes that I can escape from mommy duties and just get out on the open road. I signed up for a sprint triathlon the first week of September.  I won't be fast like I use to be but I know that it will be fun.

Grandad Sherman went on vacation to Hawaii and brought the kids back some leis.

Family Fun Day Riding The Train

One random weekday we took the DART rail to downtown Dallas.  We walked through Klyde Warren Park but it was so hot already we didn't really stop. We jumped on the free trolley that goes through Uptown and then had lunch at Breadwinner's. The kids think the train is pretty cool.

This one didn't want to be held or sit in his stroller - he was a mess.

We made a pit stop at FBC Dallas while walking through downtown.

Waiting for our train to take us back North.

Did I mention that it was Hot!?

Night at the "Waterpark"

Lewisville has an Aquatic center that the kids call the Waterpark.  My parents took the kids at the beginning of the summer when Jeff and I were out of town.  Since then, they always ask to go. We met the Millers there one evening and the kids had a blast.

Harper and Sloane conquered these lilly pads and pretty much did it over and over for an hour!

Something for everyone

We took a picnic dinner

Silly Girls!

August Already?

We enjoyed having Daddy home a little more in August.
One afternoon we took the kids to Main Event for some bowling and fun in the arcade.

Walker loved the basketball game

We pulled out the old bike trailer to see how Walker would do in it.  He loved it.  The family bike ride sounded good in theory but was a little more challenging than expected.  About a mile into our ride, Brody got tired and wanted to ride in the trailer so we stashed his bike on the side of the trail and let him ride with Walker.  In the end we went a few miles and the kids had fun (i think).

We managed to squeeze in a date night at Top Golf with our friend Daniel & Whitney.  I'm terrible at golf but we had a lot of fun.

Why not play baseball with a pink bat in our superman pajamas?
