Birthday Parties times two.

This weekend was full of birthday parties. Yesterday we went to Mackenzie's 2nd birthday and today we went to Holice's party. Lindsay held a fun Mickey Mouse themed party. The kids had a great time playing with each other and eating yummy food. Mackenzie wasn't too excited when we all sang Happy Birthday to her.

Not sure what this face is all about but it's pretty funny!
Harper is too busy to look at the camera.
This afternoon we went to Holice's 2nd birthday party. We had a nice time visiting with friends and celebrating with Holice.
Harper enjoyed checking out all of Holice's toys.
What a great idea - fill a little swimming pool with plastic balls. The kids loved this.

What a beautiful afternoon to be outside.

Mommy's Helper

I've never really enjoyed grocery shopping. In fact - I dread it and usually put it off until we absolutely have to go. Add a one year old to the process and it really makes exhausting! Good thing that Wal Mart is a big place and noisy because Harper managed to pretty much fuss and scream while I raced up and down each aisle hoping not to miss anything on my list. She was fine once we got home and enjoyed helping me put away the groceries. She looks really excited about these green beans. Too bad when I try to feed them to her she isn't this excited!

Kate & Harper

Kate and her mommy Janet came over yesterday afternoon to play. The girls are just a few weeks apart and they are so sweet together. They enjoyed playing for a while then we went to the park because the sun was finally out!
After we brought them inside, I think the really wanted to go back outside. What do you think?
Plotting their escape.
We are so blessed to have friends that we are in the exact same life stage as each other.

Small spaces

This is one of Harper's favorite toys right now. It's a little Dora the Explorer toy that she can ride on or push or crawl inside. Harper's fascination right now is crawling into small spaces. She lifts up the seat and then decides to crawl into the small space that you would normally carry toys in.
"Look mom - I fit inside of this little hole."
" Let's try this again."
"This takes talent!" "OK - now I think that I need some help getting out of here!"

Farm Animals

I think every with home with children should have this toy stuck to their frig! This Magnetic animal set has provided endless moments of entertainment in our kitchen. It's especially helpful when I'm trying to do dishes or cook. Yes - it plays annoying music but hey - it keeps her entertained! "I made a match!!!"
"Mom - did you know that sheep are blue?"

Costume Party

On Monday, Harper and I went to a fun costume party hosted by Erin and Duke Trevor. I think I counted 11 mommas and 13-14 kids (all under age of 2). The kids enjoyed playing in their costumes. I didn't get a good picture of Harper but she was a ballerina. Thanks to my friend Sarah for making the cute tutu for Harper's birthday. Here's Lindsay in the middle of Minnie mouse, strawberry shortcake, a dalmatian, a ballerina, a monkey and a cowboy. Pierce the Guitar.

Harper was checking out the Great Dane and the Wolf that live in the back yard!
Harper and Pierce playing. "Hey mom - this tutu is crimping my style!"
The funniest part of the whole morning was when we decided to try to get a group photo of all the kids on the couch together in their costumes. We put all the babies on the couch and then the moms all stood back with their cameras and tried to get a good shot. It was mass chaos because one started crying then they all started screaming. They were all crawling off the couch in different directions. I decided to capture a quick video of the chaos!

Thanks to Erin for hosting our little costume party.

Puzzled

When Harper was born, my mom went through her attic and found some toys and books that my sisters and I used to play with. It is fun to see Harper playing with things that I used to play with. (not that I remember playing with them.) There are several of these old wooden puzzles. We are practicing our vegetables with this one. Trying to figure out where the carrot goes. "Mom, can you help me with these potatoes?"
Not sure what this pose is all about.
I love this sweet face!
"Look mom - I'm eating my veggies." Too bad these are the wooden kind and provide no nutritional value.
