Our Thanksgiving week didn't go exactly as planned. Harper started getting sick the Thursday before Thanksgiving. I sent her to school on Thursday and got a call about half way through the day saying she had a fever and I needed to come pick her up. Over the weekend she complained of a sore throat and couldn't kick the fever so we treated her for strep throat. But by Monday we were worried that it might be something more that strep. We started to notice some of the same random symptoms that she had in April when we treated her for Kawasaki's Disease like continued fever, blood shot eyes, strawberry looking tongue, bright red / chapped lips, joint pain, etc. Monday we made a visit to Children's Medical Center in Plano to have some lab work and chest xray done. These all came back normal. Tuesday we visited the Pediatric Cardiologist for an echo cardiogram and EKG. Dr. Pearse agreed that she was suffering from Kawasaki's disease again. There is only a 2% chance of recurrence of this so she is just special! We left the cardiologist and checked into Medical City Children's to start IVIG treatment again.
In April we treated her in Paris but this time we choose to treat her in Dallas so she could be close to the Pediatric Cardiologist and the Infectious Disease Specialist. My mom came to get Brody on Tuesday afternoon and took him back to Paris so we could focus on getting Miss Harper better. They started the IVIG at 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday and it ran for 12 hours. Jeff and I both spent the night with her on Tuesday. None of us got much sleep because they came in every 30-45 minutes to take her vitals. After the IVIG finished, her symptoms started disappearing and she started feeling better. They wanted to keep her for an additional 24 hours for observation, but I was able to convince them to discharge us because we were headed to Paris where she could be observed by my dad over the Holiday. Harper was exhausted after her 5 + days of being sick, but she was able to rest and relax in Paris.
Brody enjoyed the giant turkey balloon that Harper got in the hospital.

Jeff's football team made it to the 3rd round of the playoffs, so he had practice every morning that week including Thanksgiving day. He made it to Paris in time for Thanksgiving lunch and was able to stay for 24 hours until he had to get back for the big game on Friday night. The game was in Midlothian so the kids and I stayed in Paris with my family and cheered on the Titans via the audio broadcast. Our Titans lost but they had a record setting season of 12-1. We are all enjoying having daddy around a little more.
We enjoyed spending the weekend with family.

My dad and Uncle Curt - always sporting their Burnt Orange and trying to brainwash the next generation.

The food was all amazing and Brody enjoyed eating from Mimi's plate.

Brody received some hand me downs from his cousin Duke and we had fun trying them on.

How do I get these off?

It was fun to have Aunt Rebekah with us for the weekend.

When my mom got down all of her Christmas decorations from the attic, she got down all of the old toys that she saved from when we were little. Dad enjoyed playing with Harper and teaching her all about legos.

Brody wanted in on the action.

Yup - that is a barbie camper and car from 1990.

I'm sure that dad has had plenty of practice over the years with barbie dolls.

I'm so thankful for our family and that Harper made a quick recovery from her Kawasaki's. Hopefully we don't have to go through this again.
