Movin on Up

Brody is 6 months old today and is ready to start eating food.  Last weekend, when my mom was in town she got busy in the kitchen and made all of Brody's food for the next month or two.  When Harper was a baby, I discovered the Once A Month Mom website that teaches you how to spend a few hours once a month preparing / cooking all of the baby food for the whole month.  It seemed a little intimidating the first time we did it with Harper but it was much easier this time around.  Mimi had a little helper this time.

Mom pureeing the peas.

Yummy - cooked spinach...

A little peas, green beans, apples, and pears

Carrots, sweet potatoes, squash

Finished product - Pears, Apples, Green Beans, Peas, Squash, Spinach, Carrots & Sweet Potatoes

Yes - Brody has a whole shelf in the freezer and his food takes up more than his share of the freezer.

So far he likes sweet potatoes the best.  I wonder why?

Why is Daddy in the stands?

Last Sunday evening, we headed out to watch the Frisco Rough Riders Baseball game.  Jeff got free tickets from a friend and our seats were a few rows up just behind home plate. It was a nice change having him up in the stands with us.

No - Brody is not drinking out of his sister's pink sippy cup.

I think this is the first of many Father / Son outings to the baseball game.

This is what 2 hours past bedtime looks like for Miss Harper!

Allison's B party

On Saturday we helped Allison celebrate her 3rd birthday.  Her mom, Aubrey, did a fantastic job with the decorations and "B" theme.

The party was at a great park in Plano and the weather was nice so the kiddos enjoyed running around.

Allison, the birthday girl. It was a little windy so Aubrey had a hard time lighting the candle.

I think Anna enjoyed her chocolate cupcake!

What a fun morning.

Kawa what?

I use this blog as a memory book for my family so I wanted to include this post so I have record of it.  About 2 weeks ago Harper started having a low grade fever.  I treated it with tylenol and motrin and didn't think to much of it.  Her throat started to bother her so we treated her for Strep.  Over the next few days, she developed some "random" symptoms like blood shot eyes, bright red lips, walking with a limp.  Thank goodness my dad is a Pediatrician because he was able to identify these symptoms and suggest we do some blood work for testing. Over the course of a week, we made three different trips to Paris where she had multiple rounds of blood work, X-rays, throat swabs, etc. After ruling out lots of other things, Dad finally diagnosed her with Kawasaki's disease. Thankfully we caught it early and the treatment was a 14 hour IV drip with medicine.  Last Saturday / Sunday we had a short stay in the hospital in Paris for her to get her medicine.
Checking out her IV and hot pink bandage.
When her dinner tray arrived of hospital food, she quickly scanned her options and chose the chocolate milk, sugar cookie, ice cream and bowl of peaches.
Thank goodness for a portable DVD player because that is how we managed to keep her in bed for hours on end. The next week we had to go through a little DVD detox!
Such a trooper!
After an overnight stay in the hospital, she was released and quickly started to bounce back to her "normal" self.  Within 24 hours all her symptoms were gone and she was better.  If it goes untreated, Kawasaki's can lead to cardio issues later on. We had a visit with a Pediatric Cardiologist last Monday to get an echocardiogram and an EKG. Thankfully everything turned out ok.  We will go back next week for one more follow up visit just to be safe. Thanks to everyone for praying for Harper while she was sick.

Sophie

Brody loves his little Sophie giraffe. It keeps him entertained for hours - ok maybe 10 minutes or until he drops it.

He loves chewing on the feet. I think we are getting ready to see some teeth pop through.

Brody's first Cereal

Brody is 5.5 months old and we decided that it was time to give him a little taste of something other than milk. He ate rice cereal for the first time this week and seemed pretty interested in it.

Trying to help daddy with the spoon.
Harper wanted to help also.
I think he is full...
Here's a little video that we took towards the end.

Our Friday Night

Friday night was a perfect night for a little baseball action.  My awesome friend, Sarah, came to watch the game (i.e. help wrangle the kiddos)

Watching daddy warm up the team on the field

I love his sweet little smirk

Oh the many faces of Harper...
